The water dispenser in our regrigerator stopped working. However, the ice dispenser is still functional. In your experience, what could be the possible causes of this problem and what parts would I need to replace?

Answer Hello Serge,
You would want to test your water valve to make sure that you are getting voltage to the valve when dispenser is pressed. If you do not have 120vac at the valve then you would want to check to make sure that the dispenser lever is making contact with the switch. If the lever is not depressing switch then there is a problem with the lever. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
My ice dispenses only cubed ice even if the crushed ice button is pressed. Will this part (AP3965563) correct the problem?

Answer Hi Cindy. Before you change the switch cluster part # 241679101, try this first... Remove the ice bin. Dump the ice and look at the auger itself and see if there is a cube stuck jamming the crusher blades in the head of the ice bin. Make sure the bin auger moves loosely in both directions. Then open the door and tape the door switch shut. With the door open, toggle the glass actuator pad and call for both cubes and crush. See if the auger motor part # 241676201 turns both ways. Is the auger drive bar part # 241726501 still tight on the auger motor shaft? When the auger reverses direction while you ask for crush, does the crush solenoid Part # 241675701 (beside the auger motor) forcefully lift up and is able to work the ice bin lever (front to back) and operate the auger crusher teeth open and closed? Thank You.
