How to replace frigidaire smooth top surface element switch

You will need to pull unit from wall. Disconnect power from unit and remove the control panel rear cover. Once cover is removed you will remove knob from the front and take the 2 screws out holding the switch in place. Once out, one at a time transfer the wires from one switch to the other making sure you watch what terminal they came off of and put on the same on the new switch. Once all are transferred, screw new switch in place and install knob and rear cover. Plug unit in and slide back into position.
My front top range will not heat at all is this what I need to purchase? The surface light comes on but not the cook top on the right front.

Answer Hi Tasha. Take a flash light and look closely at the "ribbon" of the burner itself and see if you can see a black burnt open spot where the ribbon has opened. If so it is burner part # 316010205. The same goes for the far RT. Infinite switch after removing the power and the back guard. If you see the black burnt areas of the switch contacts below the red dot, this may mean the switch is burnt out. It is a more common failure with the infinite switches. Part # 316436000. Thank You.
