My Repair & Advice
The problem seemed to be with the switch so I watched a few youtube videos to learn more about how ranges work. After locating the correct replacement switch I ordered it on-line around 10 pm Tuesday night. The new switch arrived Thursday morning at about 10 am and I had my range back up and working like new in less that 30 minutes.
The hardest part was figuring out how to remove the slide in panel to access the switch. There were plastic washer/nuts behind each know which I was able to unscrew by hand. This allowed the panel to be lifted and set out of the way on the cooktop. After that, there were six screws for mounting panel and two screws for the switch. Very straightforward. I took a picture of how the wires attached to the original switch before I started removing and connecting to the new switch.
For reassembly, I had the most trouble with a rubber gasket strip that goes between the panel and the range itself. I was finally able to hold it in place by using a very small amount of grease to cause the gasket to stick to the panel while I set it into place.
