I've ordered a series of thermal limiters (AP2108182 (134120900)) over the past couple of years, including another last week (Order #3730230). It finally dawned on me that these are fuses, not thermal switches, so I reckoned the thermostat safety (AP2142632 (5303281113)) must be faulty, causing the limiter to blow. So I ordered both. The limiter with the new safety this time lasted about 15 minutes. Which brings me to a conclusion: I suspect the parts being supplied to you by the manufacturers are either manufactured with little quality control are the parts are made according to spec and are mismatched. Either the thermostat safety is being made with a higher-allowable top temperature, or the limiters have been downgraded to a temperature below the rating of the safety. I'm also willing to admit some change in the drier that allows the metal plate to get hotter than the limiter that is attached to it can tolerate. What that could be is beyond my imagination. The manufacturer of these parts, because they seem to be missing this important detail regarding mismatch or quality control, are setting the stage for a dangerous outcome. Until this is resolved. I'm bypassing the limiter. As long as the safety functions properly, I presume I'll be okay. If it fails, well . . . Does Appliance Parts Pros have any thoughts about this?

I have replaced the drum spindle, bearing and cup with new grease. At that time I replaced the felt and glides on the front that support the drum. I also did a complete cleaning of all lint from the dryer, vent and pipes. Just before I started those repairs, the dryer the thermal fuse blew. I installed all of the above and replaced the thermal fuse. The dryer ran great for one month. When I tried a large heavy load (2 sets of sheets), it appears that the thermal fuse has again failed as the dryer is completely dead. The dryer heats very well and was running fine until now. Any ideas as to why the thermal fuse is failing. Note that the installation is the same as it has been for the last 12 years that the dryer worked fine with. Thanks.
