My dryer is getting so hot on top that you can't keep your hand on it. It even melted a hole in my plastic clothes basket.
You will want to check the venting of the unit to make sure that there are no clogs or restrictions. If the venting is clogged the dryer will overheat and potentially cause the thermal fuse to blow and the high limit thermostat to go bad. If the venting from the blower wheel to the outside of home is clear then you want to check for a bad cycling thermostat and a bad high limit thermostat.
How do you test the Temp. Selector Switch?
Answer Hello Joey. When you select the switch, the different contact points on the back of the switch should read closed for continuity on each setting. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
