My refrigerator is not cold at all. Last time my sister turned temperature controls in freezer and refrigerator to maximum, but the temperature in the fridge was not cold. Then I removed everything, cleaned up the fridge and set all controls back to recommended levels. I can hear the fan and pump running, and I can feel the wind blown out from the freezer, but, but it's not cold enough. Could you tell me what is wrong with my fridge?
Answer Loc Ngo,
You will want to check the coils in the freezer compartment. Check to see if they are impacted with ice or have a light even full frost pattern. If there is no frost pattern then the issue would be a sealed system issue. If the units evaporator coils are completely impacted then the issue would be a defrost issue. For your unit to check the defrost, you can force into a defrost. To do this you would locate the hole in the bottom of the control housing in the refrigerator compartment. Using a flat blade screw driver, stick it into the hole and turn the defrost timer until it clicks. Let the unit sit for 10 minutes then look at the coils and see if you can see the ice melting from the heater. If not then you will need to check continuity of the heater and the defrost thermostat and which ever one does not have continuity then replace that part. If the ice does start melting then you will need to replace the defrost timer.
