The fan on my refriderator runs and the Compressor is working very hard (the compressor is very hot) but fridge does not cool in freezer and fridge area. The freezer area is colder than the fridge but not cold enough to make ice. Thanks!

Freezer works great, however refrigerator will not cool below 45 degrees since we bought unit new. Too late to return. Could it be the thermostat in the fridge section or is this model just not capable of getting food cold enough to store safely?

So I replaced both the Cold Control of Defrot T-stat in my frig. Because a few time the frig and freezer stop cooling all together. The frig was working at the time I changed the parts but now that I installed both parts the compressor is not kicking on. One issue I had was with the cold control the replacement part had an L and C on the wire connections but the original part had no markings. So where was I to place the blue and red connections? I switched them both up and near way seems to work. Help. My order number was 4499583.

Latest Questions

Compressor did come on but only after I moved the control switch to a colder position (little by little just enough to turn the compressor on). Otherwise neither the freezer or refrig stays cold. Items in the freezer will start to deforst. I am currently at the coldest position on the switch and the compressor has turned off. Does the control switch need to be replaced?

Hi, My refrigerator has given me problems in the past on defrosting when I left on vacation during the winter. I found out this was due to the refrigerator not operting in cold temps. Now what is happening is I left for a week on business and set the thermostat for the house at 45. Came back and everything is defrosted. Usually in the past when the house warms up everything starts to work again. Now the compressor and circulation fan will run continuously and a thermometer shows the air temperature (in the freezer section) will fluctuate from 30 to 60 degrees. This will also cause the compressor to get very hot. I have unplugged the frig for 2 hours and the same symptoms occurs after plugging back in. I would like to believe that the temperature control thermostat is malfuctioning but more likely I think the compressor may be going bad and might as well replace the frig (it is already 9.5 years old). What do you think? Thanks for your help.

Frig. seemed ok- freezer not real cold (ice cream was very soft) checked freezer temp> +10 deg. with freezer control (damper) on colder- Pushed cold control to the almost colder (3 o'clock) postion then freezer is at -15 deg. Frig is located in the basement which is prob at 60 deg. now in winter. Wondering if its the cold control.
