How is the Frigidair Thermo Mastic used and how it is applied?
Ted F.
Answer Ted, Thermal mastic is used as a heat transfer coumpound/sealant. Regardless of the brand name or nomenclature(Alumilastic, etc.) is a one-component, non-drying mastic material designed to provide an efficient, heat transfer material between adjacent metallic surfaces. In domestic refrigeration, it can be used to promote the heat transfer from the evaporator coil to the temperature sensor, heat sink, or defrost thermostat. In "heat release" ice makers, it will promote and seal the mold heater thermostat to the ice maker mold and promote more efficient operation of the ice maker. Most servicers apply the mastic with their finger tip, or use a "pop sickle" stick. A 1 oz. tube, usually lasts for quite some time, as very little is used per application.
Can the lack of thermal mastic impede the proper functioning of the thermostat ?
