Just saw similar problem. We had a power outage last week and fridge and freezer slowly stopped cooling. Motor appears to be running. Vaccuumed out underneath. Temp is now 58 in frig and 50 in freezer. What would I fix, and how much is the estimated repair time and part cost?
If the fans in the unit are running then you would want to check to see if the compressor is running. If the compressor is not running then the problem may be the start relay. To properly assist you we will need your model number to help you with this. Please post your model number with a new question on the parts page. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/modelnumber_locator.aspx
Refrigerator and freezer stay at 50 degrees evaporator fan runs off and on could it be defrost thermostat.
Answer Hello Jack,
The defrost thermostat is not in the smae circuit at the fan. With temps being high check to see if you have frost build up on the evaporator coils. If you do then this would be a defrost issue. You could have bad thermostat, heater or defrost control. Check for continuity on the thermostat, if no continuity with it sitting in ice then the thermostat 3206322 is bad. Check continuity of the heater. If no continuity then the heater 5303918255 is bad. If both check out ok and you have impacted evaporator coils then the problem would be the defrost control 5303918476.
