A couple of years ago or so my meat drawer started keeping meat frozen. My crisper started to freeze veggies. Turned temperature control down and that has helped some but food on the shelves has now started freezing. Mainly veggies that I may have up there but some other foods. Was told it is probably thermostat. What say you? Thanks!
Answer Hello Leea,
This sounds like an air circulation issue most likely caused by the fresh food compartment being set too warm. Think of it like this: cold air is heavy and will settle to the bottom when the fan is not running. If you set the freezer warmer and the fresh food section COLDER, it will cause the unit to kick the fans on more often, stirring the air and mixing the cold with the air from the top of the unit. This usually corrects the issue of freezing crisper drawers.
Freezer works fine but refrigerator is warmer than it should be. Do you think the problem is the refrigerator thermostat or the refrigerator controller? I have a multimeter. Is there a way to check each?
Answer Hello Mike. You need to check for a defrost issue. Check and see if there is any frost build up on the evaporator coils in the freezer. If so, you will need to test the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. They should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. I will include a link at the end to assist you how to use the multi-meter if needed. If both parts are good, you will need to replace the defrost board 5303918476. Once the problem is repaired, you will need to thaw out the ice on the coils before the unit will operate properly. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
