My dryer is not heating I checked the power and it does have power, I changed the thermostat key and everything else seems to be working fine except its not getting the heating element. Is there anything else I need to change before I change the timer? or should I go ahead and change the timer?
You will want to determine which side of the heating element is not getting power. To do this you will want to unplug the unit from the wall. Remove the rear panel on the dryer. This will give access to the heating element on the right side when looking at it from the back. You will want to disconnect one of the wires from the heating element. If the high limit is attached to the element then just remove the 1 wire. Plug the unit in and test the loose wire to ground for 120 vac. If there is 120 vac then the issue will be on the other side of the system. If there is not 120 vac then trace back to where the wire originates from. It will either lead to the thermostat unless the thermostat is attached to the other side of the heating element. Check the other side of the circuit and see if there is 120 vac there, still leaving the wire loose and the dryer in the on position. If there is 120 vac on both sides then the heating element would be the issue. If there is not 120 vac on the side where the thermostat is then you will need to check for continuity of the Hi limit thermostat and the thermal fuse and if this checks ok and wiring looks good then the timer would be the issue. If the thermostat side has the power then the motor would be the issue.
