The inner tub on my washer appears to have no brake! It spins during agitation and continues spinning after the spin cycle for a while. Is this normal?
Answer Hello Rhonda,
The bearing made on the bottom of the transmission is a one way bearing that acts as a brake when the transmission spins in the agitate direction. When it turns the other direction, it is allowed to spin freely. If your inner tub is spinning during agitation, this bearing has failed and will require the replacement of the transmission to correct the issue.
