I had a storm come though our area and the power cycled on and off several times. My refrigerator stopped working and I found that a capacitor on the Adaptive Defrost Control board exploded and also the trace on the circuit board was damaged. I replaced the ADC board and the refrigerator seemed to work ok. This is a side by side. Freezer temp was ok but things started freezing in the refrigerator side. I adjusted the temp control up and the temperature went to 52. I moved control a little colder and temp went back below 32. After trying 5 or 6 times to adjust the temperature, the control seemed to stop working and temp remained around 52 in refrigerator. I checked the damper motor and the damper flap is closed. I then removed the damper motor and adjusted the damper manually to leave it partly open. The temperature then dropped back to 32 inside the refrigerator and froze the water line from the filter to the door. If I turn off power and hook up the damper motor wires, as soon as I turn power back on the damper closes and one of the two limit switches turn off the damper motor. However the temp goes back up to the 50's inside ref. The original ADC board was an ADC ll (white box). The replacement is a ADV IV (orange box). The instructions show that if the wiring harness will plug into the ADC IV then no wiring changes are necessary. My question is could the ADC IV replacement be defective or is there something else that controls when the damper opens and closes.
