I have a Frigidaire side by side, The ice maker is working fine BUT every few days water leaks from somewhere above the ice make and lands on the fan motor that is behind 2 panels. When ice builds up on the fan motor it makes a very loud noise and then the freezer starts to defrost.
I go in and remover the ice from around the fan motor and all is fine for the next several days.
The indoor water dispenser and ice dispenser work fine.
The unit is about 7 years old
HELP, thank you in advance
You will want to make sure that the fill cup on the icemaker is not getting frozen which would be the most likely cause for the water to drip down onto the fan. If the fill cup or tube is getting ice frozen on it then the issue will be caused by a faulty water valve that is allowing water to seep through when not calling for water. Also check the water pressure coming to the unit to make sure that it is not too high of a water pressure. Make sure that you also have a good filter in the unit.
The water dispenser will occasionally drip about a quarter cup of water.any ideas as to what might be wrong. It seems that when the ice maker calls for water, the water dispenser leaks. Other times it doesn't leak.
Answer Cloyd, There are lots of possibilities, dirty filter, low water pressure or air in the water dispenser system. But based on your information, it's most likely a weak water inlet valve 218832401 and/or a failed diode in the fill valve wire harness 5303918287.If the diode fails, it allows voltage to both solenoids, when the ice maker cycles the fill valce to open, the water dispenser will also be activated and water will drip or run from the dispenser.
