How do you get the plastic water tubing from icemaker off of the water inlet valve?
Answer If your valve is like the one in the picture it has the newer JohnGuest fitting. You have to depress the white ring that goes around the water line against the water valve body, this should release the locking teeth and the line should pull out. The older fitting were just compression nuts that screwed off.

The ice maker makes ice when I pour water into the cube "tray", I have not been hearing the water valve kick on or off to fill the tray so I am assuming the Water Fill valve is bad. This refrigerator came with an ice maker when we bought i but I believe the dealer installed it. Since it is not easy to get the refrigerator out to see the back I thought I would ask if the fill valve is mounted on the back of the refrigerator? Is my logic that it is probably the fill valve sound?
Yes in most cases the issue will be with the fill valve. You will want to pull the icemaker out and check the fill tube to the icemaker to ensure that it is not frozen. If it is then the fill valve would be the issue in this case. The best way to find out if it is the fill valve or the icemaker is to do a voltage check when the icemaker cycles. Check at the water valve to make sure that there is 120 vac when the unit calls for water. If no voltage then the icemaker is faulty and if there is voltage then the water valve would be the issue.
The water keeps running in the ice maker.
Answer Hello Suenickb. If the water stops by turning off the power to the unit, then you will need to replace the icemaker. If you have to turn the water off, you will need to replace the water valve.
