My washer started making a loud banging at the end of the wash cycle. After it filled for the final rinse it didn't agitate much. It then drained, but would not do the final spin. I started to smell something then turned it off. I took off the front cover and the motor was really hot. Not sure if it's the motor or transmission. Open for suggestions...

Answer Hello David, You will want to check to make sure that the tub bearings are not seizing up causing the unit to stall in spin and slow agitation. Put unit in spin and when it is done spinning, if you check the bearings and they are extremely hot then the bearings are bad.

Washer fills and then nothing happens. I can hear a humming sound and the belt is intact could it be the motor? If so how could I test the motor beore buying one I may not need?

Answer Hi. Remove the front cover. With the belt removed, turn the main pulley back and forth to see if the transmission WH38X10002 and brake is free. If not then see if the upper spin bearing WH2X1198 at the tub and seal part # WH02X10032 has leaked and seized the bearing. Spin the motor part # WH20X10019 to see if the bearings are locked up. Then Start the washer in a low fill cycle. Is the motor humming now? It will if the clutch is locked up or bad bearings. Turn the unit off and remove the clutch clip and the clutch itself. Start the motor and see if it is free or is locked up. Thank You.

Washer, GE, Model wzre5260fogg. The motor was smelling hot and was very hot and it wouldn't spin or agaitate. So I put on another motor and it agaitated for a couple of minutes and then the motor hums. I don't know now what to do. Help???? Diane

Answer Hello Diane. Either the transmission is bad and is binding the motor or the tub seal is bad and is binding the motor. You will need to check and see which part is bad and needs to be replaced on the unit.

Answer Hi Michael. Your model starts with the letter "W"bse3120b2ww. Probably missing from the label. Open up the back control cover and see if you can see the control panel burnt up. This is the only information I can offer upon the information given. It is part # WH12X10224. I will be able to help with more info. Select a small load, let it fill . The washer motor does fine when washing. On the Spin cycle it spins slow and stops. You can spin the tub manualy and it will spin. It will slow down and stop when not spinning it by hand. When the tub stops you can turn the tub in both directiond. Can part of the 2 speed motor be bad?

Answer Bill, Remove the tub cover and make sure there are no small articles, stuck between the tubs. If there are no rumbling or grumbling noises from the center of the tub the bearings are OK, and you'll need to consider the motor WH20X10019 and belt WH1X2026. Good Luck and Thanks

Answer Scott, the clutchless motor WH20X10019 is 120v motor. We do not have any information regarding a 240v application. Sorry about that!
