Is part number AP2061001 auger helix for the ice machine made of stainless steel or metal? we are having a problem with this part corroding causing the ice to smell and turn brown.

Answer Jeff, I don't think the auger helix is the cause of your issue. The auger helix is made of stainless steel, the corrosion on the shaft, odor, and discoloration, is more likely due to a water supply issue, or issue with the ice maker mold assembly. You may wanrt to dismount and remove the ice maker and inspect the ice cube mold for detirioration of the coating or metal, in the cube detents. Good Luck and Thanks
I need to replace auger part ap2061001 in the icemaker. Does auger wr17x11705 work in my icemaker? I like the plastic coating as the metal one is corroding.
