My auger is not turning. how do I know if it is the solenoid or the motor? How do I check continuity on the motor?
Answer Derek, The solenoid WR62X58 is not involved with the auger motor WR60X10262. When cubed ice is selected the solenoid activates, raises the shifter arm and opens the flapper door on the front of the bin to allow the cubes to fall through the chopper blades and not get crushed. Once you remove power to the refrigerator, and have access to the auger motor, disconnect the black and orange wires from the terminals on the motor, place your meter leads across the terminals and your meter should read 2 ohms resistance if the motor windings are good. If the motor checks OK, reestablish power, reset your meter to the AC voltage position, place your meter leads across the terminals of the two wires, tape the freezer door switch down, and press the paddle. You should read 120 VAC. If not you will need to check the dispenser switches and wiring Also check the wiring connector at the freezer door hinge.
