Answer Ray, Your first check needs to be for a proper installation all four feet need to be solid on the floor, and locked in place. If installed on a pedestal, check for a proper installation, there as well. Make sure there is no movement or vibration in the floor when the washer spins (place a glass of water on the floor 6 to 10 inches in front of the washer,the water should ripple or wave, but not spill out or splash. GE is not telling the truth about the basket and spider triunnon. It is simply bolted together there is no welding done between to different metals and they are not listing a part number for for this repair even though it is a simple fix and a VERY common problem. GE list the part number. I have exclusively bought GE products and have been a share holder. I will no longer purchase any GE product or recommend GE products if this is your solution.

Answer Hello Anthony, If the Basket assembly has become separated from the trunion then you would have to replace the basket assembly.

Had a reprairman to check, burning smell coming from drum, not the v belt. Smell only happen after last spin cycle. First thought my be rubber gasket from door , not it than open drain an found peice of metal. Repairman state come from a bolt that holds the tripod on drum to,outer drum cause rubber gasket to catch on the basket durning spin cycle need to see if this is correct stating will cost around 600 for repairs.

Why is it that you can bolt on the basket to the spindle if you can't buy them seperate....Our washer is only 3 years old and the spindle has broke and looks like a zinc bar off a ship....what I don't understand is you can buy such little as a bolt or a washer to bolt the counter weights on buy the spindle which is held on by 6 bolts and no one can buy.......If youi ask me this part must give out alot,,,but the basket is fine....for a ge product which I thought was a good brand, but if you have a product that only lasts a couple years and cannt get a single part to fix,,,,its looks to be better to stop buying ge products and buy something that I can get parts to fix it instead of spending all that money on a machine that we think is a good machine until its time to repair it....If you ask me this machine if the parts list is like this and don't change,,,,,its like buying a disposiable flashlight, works great until needs repairs then its cheaper to buy a new washer then just one part that can bolt on a off....I would understand if the spindle wasnt bolted on and cannt be simply changed, then that would be different...But its only bolted on...It dont seem right to spend $500-$600 on a basket asm,,when all everyone needs is a spindle and there basket is fine..Dont GE think that people will start to buy other products.

Answer Roy, We're Sorry your upset, You may want to contact the manufacturer and see if the spin basket has a factory extended warranty on the part. Replcement of the spin basket is not all that common, but tub bearings are a different story, are you sure you need the spin basket ? Not only is the spindle bolted to the basket, it is also heat welded and balanced. even if you removed the bolts, you'd damage the basket trying to separate the two components, not to mention the balance. It is an expensive component, but APP has the best prices and warranty in the industry, and all parts are acquired through the manufacturer(s) Good Luck and Thanks
