My dryer works fine, but when it's on it makes a very loud screeching sound. I was told it needs new pads. What part is this?
You would most likely need the drum glide WE03X10007 which is located around the front of the drum. If the glide is damaged or missing it will cause a screeching type of noise. It could also be possible that the drum bearing [AP3042531] is bad and needs to be replaced. The drum bearing is located off the back of the drum and is like a ball that allows the drum to spin.
I have a Frigidaire dryer, and used "Liquid Wrench high temperature disc & drum brake wheel bearing grease, to lubricate the rear bearing and seat cup on the back of the dryer drum. The grease has a dropping point of 500 degrees F. Will using this grease cause a problem?
Answer Hello Tom,
Lubricating the rear drum bearing should not hurt anything as long as you never apply too much since it can drip down into the heating element area. This would cause a rather dis-tasteful odor and possibly contribute to the premature failure of the heating element.
