Oven Issue: Broiler Element is heating (gets red when I turn on broiler) Baking Element is not warming to correct temp. When set lower, 350...I can still touch it. Set at 450...it gets a little warmer, I can still touch it. Had the Baking Element tested and it is working. Guy at the store told me I had to replace the computer control...$150. If I purchase that part and it doesn't work I think I can return it...right? I'm clueless on a voltmeter. to test the wire coming into the bottom of the oven. My voltmeter has no "power" source so how does it register voltage if I unplug my unit? Confused.

My oven heating elements will not turn off. I have to shut the oven off via the circuit breaker.

The oven is not preheating to the degree we set (at least it doesn't beep and the preheat light doesn't come on) but it is getting warm. It took about 1/2 hour longer to bake something than it should have. Is the baking element going out or something else causing this?

Latest Questions

I have a electric GE range that is about 18 years old. All of a sudden the oven and broiler doesn't work. Called GE they sent out service and told us that the computer chip needed to be replaced but it is not available anymore! Seems a real waste! Everything else is working and a chip is costing us the price of a new range!!! Any help? Could we find the part somehow???? Thanks Linda

Bottom element is overheating and burning food. We replaced the element thinking that was the problem, but it's not. I suspect it's something to do with the oven control knob, but would like some input before going that route.

Broiler element does not get hot even though light indicates it is on. GE said I couldn't get parts because the stove is 12 yrs. old. Is this true?
