Most Interesting

I just removed the glass cooktop assembly to replace the front right burner but I noticed a few things: (1) Several of the other burners have cracks in their ceramic shells, and (2) The single wire attached to the ribbon on the front right burner (the lone wire that has a black plastic shroud) appears to have suffered some heat damage, as the black plastic was brittle and cracked off when I grabbed it to remove it from the burner terminal. The wire insulation appears to have a bit of char -nothing serious, just some darkening. My questions are: (1) Do I need to replace the burners that have cracks in their ceramic (there were no error codes or problems during operation, this is just an incidental finding), and (2) Do I need to replace the wire harness that includes that (purple) wire because its black plastic shroud disintegrated?

I am replacing left front burner. I would like to completely remove stovetop and turn upside down on its face to remove back panel. I have been told that this may not be a good idea due to some springs in remaining burners that may fall out and that i should work with unit in its upright position. What do you think.
