My freezer has been running too cold for about a year (-10 at lowest setting: 1). Today, the refrigerator size is warm (55) and increasing the thermostat on the fridge-side to 9 isn't helping. I've checked the coils. They have very light frost evenly distributed, but I defrosted them anyway. The fan in the freezer is running. The vents to and from each side are clear. What could be causing this problem? From looking at the parts available the only one that makes sense is the Board ASM Temp Control (Part #WR55X10285). Any other ideas or bite the bullet and swap the board? How difficult is this thing to replace?

Answer Hello Mike. Check and see if there is frost on the back freezer panel. If so, It sounds like you may have a defrost problem with the unit. Check and see if there is any frost build up on the back wall of the freezer. If so, you will need to test the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. They should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. I will include a link at the end to assist you how to use the multi-meter if needed. If both parts are good, you will need to replace the defrost timer. Ref shuts down and completely warms up. Temp indicator lights go off. It will come back on by itself( temp lights too ) after several hours. I replaced motherboard but the problem continues. Can the temp board control cause this if it is bad or is it something else ? Thanks for your help

Answer Hi Bruce. The temperate control board gets its power from the main control board part # WR55X10942. Temperature control board send and receives inputs to the main board so it sounds like you have a bad main control board that's heating up and shutting all down. Thank You.

Fresh food section warm, freezer ok . It was freezing milk on and off but now its not cold enough, everything is warm to touch.

Answer Hi Jim. Remove power. A normal defrost failure is what you are describing. Do you see any frost build up on the back wall of the freezer? If so then you will need to change the defrost thermostat part # WR50X10068. The defrost heater is part # WR51X10055. They both should read closed in normal operating temperatures. They will open, not allow the defrost cycle (every 6/8 hrs)and remove frost build up on coils so proper air flow exist. Now air flow is blocked therefore not allowing the evap. fan not to give the fresh food the proper temp requested. Thank you.

Answer Hi Gloria. The freezer back wall, at the center is a vertical fzr. air duct. There is a air actuator knob in the back (center ) of it. Factory settings is 60/40% opening to the fresh food. If this has been move so too much air is directed in the fresh food, then it will need replaced. Thank you.
