When I attempt to set temp for freezer section or refrigerator section desired temp setting will display for a few seconds then return to warmer or current temp. The refrigerator is now room temp.
If the unit is not cooling ou will want to check to make sure that the compressor is running on the unit. If the compressor is not running but there is a clicking sound every couple of minutes then you would want to replace the overload and relay. The Refrigerator control should show the actual temperature of the unit. If the unit is cooling but not showing the correct temperature then you will want to test the thermistors. Check the resistance of the thermistors which should have values of 42.2K ohms @ 0 degrees, 14.4K at 37 degrees and 5K at 77 degrees.
My refrigerator developed a problem recently. It goes off on its own, and the display reads off, on both the freezer and the fresh food settings. I can turn it on from selecting more cool, but after a couple hours of working perfectly it stops, and displays off again as if someone turned it off. My food is at risk. how can you help? Anthony
Answer Hello Anthony,
You need to use a test meter on the wall outlet the unit is plugged into and make sure neutral, hot, and ground are wired correctly. You see, if the polarity is incorrect, the floating voltage on neutral will be interpreted by the control as a command. This can cause the unit to "think" it is being turned off. The other thing you should check is the control on the back side of the touch pad. If ice has been dispensed into a drink and it splashes up onto the control, it can cause all kinds of issues.
