Model JVM 1860SD001. Does this microwave have a charcoal filter? If so, where is it and how do I replace it? It has a flip open top area, not a removable top panel. I do not see any filter in there. I have called GE and they said remove the panel area but there is nothing to remove. They were no help. Can you help?
Answer Hello Lisa, Your model does have a charcoal filter WB02X10733 behind the top grille assembly WB07X10476. To remove the charcoal filter, disconnect power at the main fuse or circuit breaker panel or pull the plug. Remove the top grille by removing the screws on top of the grille that hold it in place and sliding the grille to the left (opening the door makes grille removal easier). Slide the filter towards the front of the oven and remove it. To install a new filter, remove plastic and other outer wrapping from the new filter. Insert the filter into the top opening of the oven. It will rest at an angle on 2 side support tabs and in front of the right rear tab. Replace the grille and screws. I am going to e-mail you the User Manual for your model and it explains this process on page 37. Hope this helps!
