DO I HAVE TO DO ANYTHING WITH REFRIGERANT TO REPLACE THE COMPRESSOR? I WAS TOLD THAT I NEED A TECHNICIAN TO DO THIS BECAUSE OF REFRIGERANT.
Answer Yes you do. There are a number of things you would need. 1) Refrigeration certification in order to buy freon. 2) A number of specialty tools, such as torches, gauges, vacumn pump, charging cylinder, etc. It really isn't a normal job for someone without sealed system experience. If you can get someone who can provide this service we would be more then happy to provide the compressor to you for them to install.

What is the average labor cost to replace the compressor. In other words, how long does iit take?
We would not be able to advise on the cost to replace a compressor as each company charges different labor rates. In most cases a compressor change out can take anywhere between 1 1/2 and 3 hrs just depending on how difficult the manufacturer made it to get to all the lines to braze then out and back in and if there is any modifications requires to adapt the compressor.
