Answer Yes you do. There are a number of things you would need. 1) Refrigeration certification in order to buy freon. 2) A number of specialty tools, such as torches, gauges, vacumn pump, charging cylinder, etc. It really isn't a normal job for someone without sealed system experience. If you can get someone who can provide this service we would be more then happy to provide the compressor to you for them to install.

Answer Henry, The voltage on the compressor WR87X10211 is 120vac. We do not have horsepower or BTU information but the refrigerant type is 134a. You will want to look on the model tag of the unit for the amount of refrigerant to use but is normally around 5 oz.

Answer Hello nh182. If you look on the model number tag inside the unit, it gives you the type of freon the unit uses.

Answer Hello Thomas. The original compressor is out of warranty. If you need a new one and replace it with one ordered from us, you have a 1 year warranty on the part.

Answer Hello Kevin, If the compressor is making the same noise as when you shook it then it means that the springs inside the compressor are failing. Eventually compressor WR87X10211 will fail.
