I get a single click sound just as the compressor kicks on. sometimes the compressor stays running but usually it clicks, then runs for a second or two and shuts off. After about 20 seconds it will click again to start the compressor. This can happen from one up to 10 false starts before the compressor remains running for it's full cycle. Fridge and freezer temps are normal, and it is quiet running. Condenser fan was replaced recently and is operating properly. What is the most likely problem?

My GE TFX22RX Refrigerator is really hot between the doors. I pulled the refrigerator out and undid the back. I noticed the condenser fan isn't working. Could this be the problem? I am having trouble finding which condenser fan motor is compatible, can you help? Also, should I unplug the refrigerator. Can this cause a fire? Thanks

My GE TBF22ZC refrigerator (circa 1985) is making a ticking noise. It appears the noise is coming from the rear of the unit, at the bottom. II don't think it's the rhythmic clicking that some people report when the main board relays go bad. Also, the ticking noise is there even when the compressor shuts off. Does the compressor fan stay on for awhile after the compressor shuts off? Could it be that the compressor fan motor bearings are going bad, and the ticking noise I'm hearing is the motor going bad or the fan blades nicking the sheet metal that surrounds the fan? Before ordering parts, I'd sure appreciate some advise. Thanks!
