Answer Dan, When you take the agitator off put the unit on the smallest load and run the agitation and see if the shaft is agitating. If the shaft is agitating then either the agitator coupling is stripped or the agitator inside is stripped.

Answer George, More than likely the splines inside the agitator have worn down causing the clunking noise. You would want to replace the agitator assembly but also check the agitator coupling to make sure that the splines on it are not damaged.

Answer Hello Mary. Run a rope under the agitator and jerk upward to remove the agitator from the coupling.

Answer Hello Judy. Run a rope under the agitator and jerk upward to remove the agitator. Then loosen and remove the bolt in the top of the coupling and pull the coupling off the transmission shaft.

Answer Hello Kenneth, This unit does not have agitator dogs. If the agitator is not rotating then you would either need the agitator or the agitator coupling. The agitator comes off by grasping from the bottom and giving a good jerk for it to release.

Answer Hi. Remove the agitator and look under it to see if the agitator coupler part # WH43X10032 is not cracked or broken needing replaced. If not then press down on the agitator to see if the noise gets worse when pressing it down then the transmission part # WH38X10002 is bad. It will sound like gears trashing against one another. You may have 2 -different issues. The humming noise at the timer part # WH12X10255 may not be allowing the contacts to send the voltage to the motor. Look at the belt part # WH1X2026 to see if it is missing pieces, slipping and not engaging the pulleys. Thank You.
