Will this replace the film damper and is this unit already to run mechanical damp?

Answer John, To install the motorized damper on this unit you will want to use part number WR02X12252. There is no modification needed as the control board is capable of running the damper assembly and there is a plug for it to plug into.

The damper harness does not come with the two wires that would connect the light to the harness? Are you supposed to pull the wires off the old harness and connect them to the new one?

Answer Hello Scott, Many times the manufacturer will, in an attempt to save themselves money, will not include a part that is necessary and will not publish an instruction sheet telling the person installing the part to reuse a particular part. I hate to put it this way but, if you want the light to work, you will have to remove it fron the old assembly and install it on the new assembly.

Over the last month I have taken the freezer apart several times and defrosted it. Because of my freezer working correctly and the refrigerator keeps getting warmer every day no matter where I set the controls. After about a week the fridge will not go over 50 degrees and the rear element cover is frozen hard. I noticed the damper door is not opening between the freezer and the fridge. How do I test to see which part is not working correctly? Is it probably the damper servo, thermister, defroster or something other? Thank you for your help and the websites Q&A is very important to me because I like to do most work by myself. Have a great day.

Answer Hello Steve. It sounds like you may have a defrost problem with the unit. Check and see if there is any frost build up on the back wall of the freezer. If so, you will need to test the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. They should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. I will include a link at the end to assist you how to use the multi-meter if needed. If both parts are good, you will need to replace the defrost timer. I have a side-by-side GE refrigerator GSH25JSTASS and it was not cooling properly. Technician came out and said that the reason refrigerator is not cooling properly is because the heater is out. Which seems reasonable, but I also recall that no cool air is going into the food section. So my question is, "How do you check that the damper/thermister assembly (part no. WR60X10215) is working properly? Technician also stated that the compressor, evaporator and fan seems to be working fine. Any other reason that would cause the refrigerator to be not cooling?

Answer Hello Fewchaboy. If the heater is out on the unit, it will prevent the air from blowing into the refrigerator. The ice blocks the air flow and stops the air from coming to that section. If the heater is replaced, the unit should be fine with cooling according to the tech that is working on it.
