Continueing "DE "! tfx24ejb I have replaced the defrost thermostat.I checked continuity on both heaters in the freezer, and checked the timer, all functional. 48 hrs pass,i hear a sound like a woodpecker 3 times then the DE flashes. Twice this exact thing happens. I unplug the refridge, wait 5 minutes, replug the refridge back in and the DE clears for another 48hrs! When it starts all over again. I must be resetting the control panel by doing that but until that sound reacures 48 hrs later ,same sound, same result! What is next?

I have a diagnostic panel and after several attemps to clear the " DE " continues to flash. Would that be that the defrost thermostat is not working? Maybe the timer? Fan runs and it is cold and holding.

The refrigerator has failed but the freezer is functioning properly. Could this be a thermostat problem?

Why are both wires the same color on the WR50X55 defrost thermostat? How would I know which wire to connect to which color wire on the harness? And do the instructions for changing the bracket come packaged with the thermostat? Thanks for your help.

Hi. The contents of my freezer was thawing out and would refreeze. Loads of ice on the back panel. Discovered charred wire to lower heater element, repaired same but heater would not come on during defrost cycle. Removed defrost thermostat and heater now works. However original symptoms persist. I am going to order a thermostat but as defrost timer seems to work oK. I thought freezer should behave OK. Condenser coil is well frosted up and temp in freezer is approx. -5deg. C and the fridge wont go below +8deg.C. The cover over the fan /coil unit is removed for now. Q1. Would this affect the performance of the fridge due to the way the fan circulates cold air from freezer. Q2.Will a new thermostat restore my fridge to correct working condition?...Thanks..Mark
