Both ice maker and water dispenser make loud machine-gun sound when turned on. Ice maker does not dispense ice. Water dispenser dispenses slowly. Thought maybe I needed to replace the water valve, but doesn't seem that both ice and water would go bad at same time.
Answer Mike, You are partially correct, " but doesn't seem that both ice and water would go bad at same time" both valve solenoids failing at the same time isn't that common, But you may want to replace the valve WR57X10051 to be safe and keep from having to replace it in the near future. The " loud machine-gun sound " when the solenoids activate are the interior components "chattering" or opening and closing rapidly, this is usually due to low water pressure to the valve from the water supply. You need to maintain a minimum of 20 PSI of pressure at the fill valve connection (most manufacturers recommend 32 PSI) You'll need to start by checking and flushing the water supply line to the refrigerator fill valve, check if there is a filter on the system that may need replacement, and consider the valve.
No water to fill ice maker. Ice water dispenser works fine.
Answer Hello Denis. Make sure the freezer is between 0° and 5°. You need to check and see if there is power going to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. If not, or the icemaker does not cycle, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. If so, replace the water valve and thaw out the fill tube. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
