How do you replace the water valve? Where is the location of the valve.
Deb S. for Model Number gss20gewpwwp
Answer Deb, The wateer inlet valve is located on the back of the refrigerator. We shoaw a different part number for the valve on your machine WR57X10050 , using the model number you supplied. You will need to move the refrigertor out enough to get behind it, turn off the water supply and unplug the power cord from the outlet. Remove the lower rear(cardboard) compartment cover to access the valve. It's easiest to remove one component from the original valve, and install it to the new replacement part, then remove the old and install the new. To remove and install the tubes on the valves, you'll need to press down or in on the plastic collar that surrounds the water tube, and pull out on the tube at the same time. To install the tubes, press in on the collar, insert the tube as far as possible, release the collar then slightly tug on the tube. This ensures that the tube is seated and properly locked in place.
First, the water dispenser inside the refrigerator won't dispense well, it just dribbles. Second, the ice maker leaks out the back and side and makes a puddle of ice inside the unit, but doesn't make a lot of cubes. Do these two issues indicate a water valve problem, or are they separate problems? Thanks!

Answer Hello Robert,
While it is possible to have both water valves fail at the same time, the likelyhood of this is slim. It actually sounds like you either have a water pressure issue to the unit, (home plumbing), or the water reservoir is freezing. The quick way to determine which is happening i to pull the bottom drawer out and put a hair dryer in. Let the hair dryer blow on the water reservoir, (coil of plastic water line), for at least 10 to 15 minutes. If this restores a free flow, all you have to do to correct the situation is to set the fresh food section one setting COLDER and the freezer one setting warmer. I know this sounds backwards, but thinking of the laws of nature, cold air drops. Setting the unit controls like this make the unit call for cold more often and the fans kick on. This stirs the air and prevents the water tank from freezing.
Dual water valve (ap3796835) -- Blue half of Valve has two small terminals. Red half of valve has two larger terminals. Which wires connect to which terminals? A pigtail wire asmbly contains a red wire and a doubled-blue pair. Pigtail connects to Red half of valve, but which way? Red wire toward middle of valve? Or red to outer terminal? Two separate wires (one white, one blue) connect to Blue half of valve. Does White wire connect to inner or outer terminal?

Answer Hi Mark. The red wire to either terminal, really don't matter because it is not polarity sensitive. Whichever is easier without any adapters is preferable because of possible bad connection issues. Usually both connectors will "flow" aesthetically with one another to make it look more professionally installed with less physical tension on the wires. The red or the blue wire is the positive "send" voltage to the device when it is needed. The white wire is always neutral that will return the unused portion of electricity completling the circuit path correctly. The dual water valve is part # WR57X10055. Thank you.
