I have a Hotpoint Fridge. The fan in the freezer is making a loud noise. Like a squeal/vibrating noise. I can use my fist and hit the back of freezer area and the noise will quit. But start again. I'm thinking its the fan motor or could it be a bushing on the fan? Currently, the freezer and fridge both work and are cool. Thanks.

Answer Hello Brent, You will want to pull the rear cover off freezer and check to make sure that there is no ice built up around the fan. If there is then clear off as this may be the cause of noise. If not then replacing the fan motor WR60X10141 would necessary to stop the noise.

Answer Hello Derick, The part the manufacturer recommends is WR60X10257. We never sell a part for a model that isn't a manufacturer approved part. The original part number listed in the units' mini manual is WR60X10257. This crosses by the manufacturer to part number WR60X10129. This crosses to our part number listed above, (which is a different part number for our business purposes only. It is the same part).

The fan motor in the freezer doesn't work. This fan blows air from the freeezer into the fridge. It won't run at all. I unplugged the refrigetrator and let sit all night to possibly thaw any ice. Turned back on and the fan still doesn't work. The freezer is working making cold air and some cold air is making it into the fridge section. When I stick my hand in the rear of the freezer, I feel moisture on the exterior vegetable packages. What would cause this fan to quit? Age? Is the fan controlled by a thermostat? Any help would be great. Thank you.

Answer Hello Nathan. Test for power coming to the fan motor. If there is power there, and the unit does not run, you will need to order and replace the evaporator fan motor WR60X10141. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Freezer is cold but the refrigerator is not. The EVAP motor will not spin but the fan vibrates strongly when the power in on to the motor. Is it the motor or a control board problem. What is my next step?
