This dishwasher starts to fill but quits filling and doesn't start. It will only start when you put enough water in the tub. Will this be the float switch?

The washer fills for its initial cycle then water was coming out from the bottom of door. I opened the cup that holds the plunger, pushed the plunger a few times to make sure of no obstruction, cleaned the cup, reassembled, restarted, and then it completed its cycle with no additional problems.

Latest Questions

Hi, This dishwasher is quite old but did the job until no water filled the unit. Replaced the water intake valve and still no water. The float is not stuck as far as I can tell. Removed the float switch and it seems to be bad. Registered a 1 on a digital meter with sound. Sound was intermittent and raspy. Before I spend $42.00 on this part, is there anything else I should check? Thanks, Cathy

First I noticed that the dishes weren't getting clean. Then I opened the door during the wash cycle and saw that there was not enough water in the bottom. Then I listened during the fill phase right after I set the dial to "start", and I can hear it start to fill and then almost immediately drain. Still filling, then drain again. I checked the flood float, and it is not fouled nor stuck in the up position. If I lift it, I can hear a click. Up, click, down, click. Even though the switch is clicking, I suspect that the flood switch has gone bad. Should I replace the flood switch, or do you think it is something else? Thanks, John

Just moved in to a new house. Existing dishwasher was leaking (flooding) so I replaced the door gasket. Mostly fixed the leak but still getting minor leaks along bottom of door. One on left and two about 2 inches on each side of center bottom. Any suggestions? It's ten years old. Thanks.
