Answer Hello Doug, The two differently colored parts are made from different composites, which wear at different rates. If you don't use the correct ones, you are very likely to develop noises which are, in fact, indications of improper wear. In other words, the engineers tested these materials in practical applications and found that the recommended parts give the longest, quietest wear possible. If the local parts store designed and marketed the product, they would make the same recommendation.
