The gasket I received does not have the rigid plastic piece on it. How can you replace the old gasket without completely taking the door apart? The gasket I have appears to be the original one that would be installed when the inner and outer portion of the door are separated.
There is a metal piece that holds the door seal in place. You would need to loosen all the screws and pull the old seal out and then push the edge of the gasket under the metal trim piece. You would then retighten the screws. The door does not need to be pulled completely apart.
I ordered this part and it has no magnet in it like the old gasket did. Is it supposed to have or is there a new way to install it?
Answer Hello Shannon. All the door gaskets have a small magnet strip in them, but it is not strong enough to pull the door. Once the gasket WR24X529 is installed, you will need to heat the gasket and make sure the gasket is sealing properly all the way around the edges. Be careful not to melt the new gasket. Hope this helps.
