Looking at the forum Q and A's, I think I know the answer, but, here goes: On this GE Refrig Model TFX20JRSM, with icemaker (I think) Model WR30X03060, three gears are broken (snapped, or eroded to stubs) on the small motor gear. You seems to suggest replacing the kit with AP4345120. Is that your advice given the situation stated here and would it be compatabile with the refrig as there is only the only power connection with the present (broken) icemaker?
Answer Hello Bill,
The icemaker you are asking about is GEs' revised icemaker. They no longer make the old design. If you notice, on the picture of the icemaker kit shows a harness adaptor, (shown at the bottom). This icemaker will work exactly as the old one did. The only difference in the installation is the wiring harness has to be wrapped up and around in a fashion that accommodates the installation of the crusher bin. This can sometimes be fun, but I have found that using a hair dryer to make the harness more flexible is an extreme help to the installer.
How do I replace the small gear motor WR29X5153? I have the part but I can't unscrew the screw that is in the center or the gear. Is there a secret to removing the broken gear?
Answer Robin, No there are no secrert methods to replace or remove the gear or screw, Here's a note from our forum " The factory itself does not recommend individual part replacement. Please consider Ice maker part #AP4345120."
