I have had to replace this grill recess twice already. The silver plastic coating wears off after a few months. Is this supposed to happen? Is there a stainless steel version?

Do you have the grill recess on a new model GE Profile that will fit? I have seen them at the retailers and they do not vave the silver plain on them which has caused the problem twice in 5 years. Thanks.
