Noticed excessive ice buildup around grommet and fill tube. Fill tube is actually being pushed out of grommet. Shut the water supply off and thawed out ice. Buildup was only around grommet area and fan area at top. Rest of freezer and cooling coils and defrost heater was clear of ice. Even with water shut off for 10 days now, ice is forming inside fill tube and pushing it out of grommet, and ice is building up around grommet and fan area. Makes no sense with water shut off. Do you think it's a bad grommet and tube? Can this be retro fitted with the one piece fill tube like what was shown in video? Any ideas?

Freezer works ok and the icemaker works ok but the icemaker periodically goes into a defrost mode and melts the ice in the ice tray after it has been made. However, the items in the freezer below the first shelf remain frozen Water then runs out of the ice tray and creates a big ice cycle down in the freezer compartment. After I dump all the water and ice that hasn't melted yet out of the tray and shut the icemaker switch off for a little while, then turn the switch back on the icemaker seems to work fine for a day or two and then goes back into the defrost mode. Do you have an answer to what the problem could be with the icemaker? Thanks Russ

I just replaced both solenoids, tubing, and filter on this side-by-side refrigerator. Water works now, but icemaker is still not filling. I heard the water try to cycle a couple times last night, but could not get to the freezer to observe. Still no water in form. The icemaker does cycle. I poured water into the form last night and had ice this morning. Removed the icemaker and back plate, and noted that the fill tube was loose from the grommet. Fill tube was empty. Grommet is flush with back wall of freezer, and may have cracked off. How are grommet and fill tube connected? Could it be that water was getting to the grommet and running down the back wall inside the freezer? It only tried to cycle water for 1-2 seconds. Does the form have a sensor to shut off water on no flow? Tonight I'll disconnect the tube and see if I get water flow.

No water is currently flowing into ice maker to make ice & I'm trying to find the cause; verified water pump is working properly; I removed the water line to the grommet on the back of the unit; removed ice maker from freezer; blew out the line from the back of the unit that goes into the freezer; I felt pressure on the inside 1/4 inch water line that feeds the ice tray - but the air flow was somewhat weak; I tried to force water thru the grommet on the back of the unit, no good - the water just came back & dripped down the hose I was blowing thru; Could their be frozen water inside the grommet, between the back on the unit & where the water flows into the ice maker? (I think that's the only answer - I think) Can I removed the grommet assembly on the back of the unit by just pulling & twisting on it? Or do I have to go thru the freezer compartment & get at the grommet & 1/4 inch hose ? I also tried to use 2 blow dryers, one from the back & one inside the freezer compartment to see if i could defrost the possible frozen water - no good. When the water tries to fill the ice maker, the water is forced back out the water feed line in the back of the unit & drips down the back of the fridge. What do you guys think ?? thanks, chris
