Recently I was advised that the "DE " flashing indicated I needed a new thermostat .I replaced it with your part and 48hrs later, it`s flashing again! What is the next step or steps to repair before I get discourage and call a appliance technician which will cost $$$$$$$ which I`m trying to avoid! I`m a retired maintenance supervisor and very mechanical but this problem is a headache!!

I have a old hotpoint that the defrost wires are shot. Doesn't do any good to replace the defrost heater anymore because the wires and connection to it are burned. Will this part: WR51X442 Genuine GE Refrigerator Defrost Heater Element OEM Work the same as the: WR49X392. Since the XX42 would replace the wires too, I was hoping it would work in place of just the heater element.

The freezer is working fine but the refrigerator slowly warms up. Defrosting (doors open, fridge off for a day) makes it work fine again for a while. Both the fan in the back of the unit and in the fan in the freezer compartment are working. I see a lot of frost/ice buildup on the coils when I open up the back of the freezer compartment. I assume the defrost isn't working? Is there a part that more frequently fails that I should try replacing, or can I diagnose which part is broken at home? Thank you!
