Answer Hello Paul. You can test the heaters and the thermostat WR51X10021. They should read closed for continuity when cold. If they are good, you will need to replace the defrost control WR9X601. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter.
