The ice water dispenser on my GE side by side refrigerator (GSS25SGMA) freezes all the time and has to be thawed to work. Does the Heater recess (AP3192791) play a role in dispensing and could this be the problem causing chronic freezing? Should I change it and is it difficult to do? On a related note, I have to change the water tank assembly again due to cracks. Thanks
Answer Hello Steven,
This is due to improper settings. You see, the automatic reaction to freezing in the fresh food section, (especially in the crisper drawers), is lack of air circulation. In order to increase the air circulation which prevents the cold air from migrating to the bottom of the unit and back feeding into the bottom of the fresh food compartment, turn the temperature COLDER in the fresh food compartment and the freezer warmer. This circulates warmer air more often and corrects the issue. You should also check the ice door with a flashlight. If light can pass, so can air.
