Answer Hi. Let the ice bin warm to room temperatures. You have to remove the front cover off that covers the crusher blades in the front. There is a nut on the front of the auger that screws off and on counterclockwise direction. Make sure you lay out all the parts in order for reassembly. Helix part # WR17X11457. Thank You.

Answer Hello Mike. The helix, it should not spin freely as it needs to turn with the auger shaft in order to draw ice into the crusher. The Helix is held in place by the plate helix lock WR17X11458 which is keyed to the auger shaft and thus turns along with the auger shaft. What can happen (along with normal wear and tear on the helix lock) is if for whatever reason some ice melts and refreezes, it can lock the helix in tight to the bottom of the tray. When you try to get some ice the motor turns the auger and due to the helix being frozen to the tray, it basically strips the key on the plate helix lock which then spins freely and does not draw ice into the crusher. You will need to relpace the helix and the helix lock if it is broke. Hope this helps.
