Our GE Adora dryer sensor dry setting stopped working a year ago but if we used the time dry it worked fine until a few weeks ago. While in the sensor mode it ignites and it will heat up for a few seconds and then the dryer stops. If you use the time mode it only occasionally will heat up. Curious if it's the igniter, coil, fuse, thermal fuse?

Answer Hi Brian. Ohm the ignitor cold between 75-800 ohms. Is it physically begun to open in the middle? If so the part # is WE4X739. If the coils are weak then they will open and shut down, cool off and close allowing heating again.Check the coils 279834 and see if they test good. You can test the coils using a multi-meter TJMA-DM1. The two prong coil will read 1,000-1,300 ohms, and the three prong coil will read 1,300-1,400 ohms across prongs 1&2, and 500-600 ohms across prongs 1&3. Thank You.
When the gas dryer starts I can hear the flame come on for about 10-30 seconds and then the flame shuts off, but the dryer will continue to run. I suspect it is some sort of sensor, but would like verification.

Answer Hello Steven. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the coils 279834 are bad and will need to be replaced. Weak coils will cause the unit to lite for a short time and then go out and not relite. Hope this helps.
