This impeller is the same part number as the old one but has a different mounting collar that fits the motor shaft but doesn't allow it to seat flush and cause the drain cover to leak and the impeller just spins the water back into the washer. Please help. this is such a simple repair.

I found the shaft of the lower impeller was broken when troubleshooting a no draining issue. I ordered & received the lower impeller according to "manufacturers" part # and when I went to seat it on the seal assembly it goes onto the motor shaft, but it doesn't fit over the round plastic collar just on the top of the seal assy shaft. That piece of plastic doesn't allow the impeller to seat properly, the way the replacement impeller is seating doesn't allow for the drain cover to seat properly. Its obviously the right part- its just not the right seating hole on the impeller- it needs to be about 1/4 inch bigger so it can seat lower and needs to fit over the plastic ring on the motor shaft. You can see where it should be drilled out but its only a marking on the part. The old impellor has the same GE part number but has the ring mount( or whats left of it) to allow it to seat correctly. Please help this is such a cut and dry repair. I can only think GE has modified the part.
