For GE Dishwasher Pdw7300g00ww, the inlet sump (WD18X10008) is held on to the pump with metal clamp (AP2038376). I'm having trouble as when I tighten the clamp, the rubber inlet sump tends to slide off the plastic pump. It sort of stays if I don't tighten the clamp too much, but there's a small leak from around the clamp when I run the dishwasher. I noticed the inside of the inlet sump has a ring of black residue under where the clamp would go. It doesn't appear to be an o-ring, and it doesn't seem to be dishwasher residue so I'm assuming it's some sort of sealant. Is there a way to keep the clamp from slipping? Is there a sealant I should be applied before installing the inlet sump?

I'm replacing the sump inlet and wondering if I can perform the replacement by removing the filter course? The better question is how should I go about replacing the inlet sump (GE Part Number AP3140329). Thanks in advance for your reply.

Latest Questions

My dishwasher is pumping chunks of food to the wash arms and clogging the small holes causing the wash arms not to spin. Recently, the feeder tube that goes to the fine filter disintegrated into pieces when removing the fine filter. I ordered a replacement sump. Any ideas if the feeder tube could be causing this or something else?

Does the inlet sump need to be replaced from bottom, therefore needing to remove dishwasher disconnect and turn over? Thanks, Ron Sciara
