I have a GLD6968R10SS and the keypad went out, I was able to find a WD34X11210 (keypad) and install it OK... (for those out there wondering, I got the old one off using a hairdryer, and you have to unscrew the white door lining to connect the ribbon cable to the control panel). Anyway, when I took the door back off, a piece fell out of the door front (I don't see it on the part diagram). It seems to be to route the vented steam from where it comes out of the inner door to the vent on the front panel. Only it is a weird part - it is partly plastic, and partly foam molding (like packing corners)... it has one screw hole which clearly isn't used for anything. It just looks like it is a part from a completely different dishwasher - it has no way to mount securely (other than being pressed between the two door parts)... it seems like I put it back better than it was in before, since now more steam comes out the vent (but it isn't air tight, and I imagine this may be what damaged my keypad in the first place). Has anyone seen something similar?

I have a GE Profile quiet power 6 model number pdw9280n00ss. My key pad works, all but the start button. Do I only need to replace the keypad for this?

Thanks for the help. I see now how to get to the cable. I was a bit surprised to see the keypad glued to the door. To replace the keypad, disconnect the cable and gently pry the old keypad up and off the door ? I assume the new one has adhesive on back that adheres to the door.

While installing new tile I turned the power off to my dishwasher. I do have power to my dishwasher now but it will not run. Could I have shorted out the key pad? Any suggestion on what it could be. Thanks Dwight
