After the On/Off knob broke I used a plier to rotate the stick (stem?) to turn on the dryer. Now the mounting stick (stem?) for the knob broke off and I have no way of turning on the dryer. What part(s) should I purchase to make the On/Off knob work again? Also, is it achievable tasks for mechanically-challenged guy like myself? Thank you.
Answer Hello Yuji,
The timer is part number WE4X791. The knob insert is WE1X980. The timer knob is WE1X1266. Remove power from the unit, (unplug it from the wall outlet), and open the control panel. Remove the timer retaining screws. Now the old timer will be hanging by the wires. Remove one wire, noting the terminal it was on and find this terminal on the new timer. Put the wire there and remove the next wire in the same manner. Continue with this procedure until you have transferred all of the wires to the new timer. DO NOT REMOVE MORE THAN ONE WIRE AT A TIME! If you do, you may find yourself pulling the wiring diagram and taking days to complete a 30 minute job. Reassemble in the reverse order.
