Here's the situation: yesterday we put the oven through a 4hr self-cleaning cycle. When it was over the locked light remained on and as a result it would not let us use the regular oven functions. I am not sure if the oven door was opened just before the cleaning cycle completely finished. Anyway,we tried to reset it by following the GE manual's directions and possibly other variations found on fix-ya. Also, I unplugged the oven for an hour or more and took the back panels off to see if there was some reset button. Does one exist? Also, noticed that if the door was open and I pressed the light button in the upper left door frame, I would hear after a short delay of several seconds, a series of clicks coming from one of the little black boxes on the control panel. After several clicks the door motor mechanism would activate then actually lock the door and the word "locked" would stop flashing and then stay on. The door would stay locked for awhile- I could get the door to open by unplugging the oven. We tried putting the oven {according to suggestions} into the self-clean mode then cancelling it when it started- that did not clear it. I unplugged it again. We ran it through a second shorter cleaning cycle and either during it or after it gave the F-2 code. I left it unplugged overnight. This morning with it plugged back in the "locked" signal is flashing continuously whether the door is open or closed. When it is closed you can hear the latching motor running continuously and the light still blinks- it does not seem to lock the door now. If I open it and press the corner light button I do not hear any clicks from the back- again only the motor running. What do you think? Is there a way to disable the lock function so we can use the oven functions this weekend? Is the cable/motor assembly what is needed? Hope you can help. Thanks for your time.

Answer Evan, The door latch assembly WB15T10106 has switches that are mounted to the assembly, and each switch has to have a "closed" or "open" circuit, depending on the latch position, and the selection made. If the control does not "see" the switch circuit in the correct position,it will not unlock properly. You'll need to use a meter and check the switch circuits under the "locked" unlocked" condition and the wiring between the latch assembly and the ERC/Clock. If the wiring checks OK, then you'll need to replace the latch assembly.
How do I access the door lock assembly to replace P/N AP3792813

Answer Marjorie, First you'll need to remove the power to the range, raise or remove the cooktop, remove the oven door, then remove the two screws from the bracket holding the cooktop to the front oven frame. Raise the cooktop to a 90 dgr. angleand carefully rotate the cooktop out from under the control panel assembly, remove the hot surface light assembly and remove and set the cooktop aside. You will now have access to the S/C latch assembly in the center of the burner box. trace and disconnect the wire harness from the main harness and remove the latch assembly. You may want to move the front burner bracket for easier access to the latch assembly. Reverse the procedure and check for operation. Good Luck and Thanks
