how to replace oven latch on ge model # jgb915 bef
Joe
Answer Joe, First you'll need to remove power to the range, and turn off the gas supply, remove everything off the cooktop, grates, burner caps. Each burner has two(2) phillips head screws holding the burner down to the cooktop, that have to be removed before you lift the cooktop. Once the cooktop is lifted and propped up, you can unplug the wires from the latch motor and switch, Remove the mounting screws from the oven door opening and change out the latch. You may want to label or mark all the burner caps and bases and any wires you disconnect before you remove them, it'll make everything easier to re assemble.
How to check oven latch motor and switch assembly AP3993651 using meter to confirm it is broken one?
Thanks.

Answer Hello Chang,
You will test the oven latch switch by checking for open and closed positions. With door unlocked you should have continuty on the switch. The motor should also have resistance reading through the winding. If the motor shows open then the motor is bad. If there is not continuity through the switch in the closed positon then the switch is bad.
