Answer Hello Eric. No, that is for shipping purpose. Check and see if the bottom is rubbing the platform. If so, you need to see if the base is bent or the top support arms are bent on the unit.

Answer Hello Chris. You will need to have the assembly tight before installing the screws and securing it. Make sure the transmission is seated properly in the platform WH17X101. Hope this helps.
