Unit is 3 years old and was hit with power surge from utility company. It blew 220v breaker and the gfi on power cord. Do you think main power board will correct or would entire unit need to be replaced?

Answer Hello Earl,
If the insurance will cover it, that's the way to go. If you just want to try to fix it, start at the compressor and ohm it out. If it ohms out good and isn't shorted to ground, the control board will just be a start as each part will have to be tested to prove them good before the unit is powered up. One bad component can shoot the new control board. Every component down to the last switch, capacitor, and transformer need to be tested. The cord will have to be replaced even if it tests good as it is a sore spot for the design.
