I had a repair man come to 'fix' my zoneline unit. He installed a new main power board, With the auxiliary control #4 up, the heat doesn't seem to turn on at all, but the air does. With the auxiliary control #4 down, the heat turns on for about a minute, but then when the compressor kicks in, it blows cold air again. Is the wiring incorrect perhaps?
Answer Hello Lynda,
This sounds like a poor electrical connection. This can be inside the selector switch, in any electrical connector, or a weak solder connection on the board. The most likely cause is the selector switch but you should look at the back of the control board for connections that have dis-colored. The dis-coloration is caused by heat generated by the poor connection. As an example, a white wire will dis-color to beige or yellow looking. On the board this will appear as a darker area around the solder connection. This will be obvious on the back side of the board, not the side the components are on.You should also check for broken elements that can be contacting one another intermittantly as this will cause a "heat at first" condition. The wiring can be checked against the wiring diagram on the unit. This will be on a sticker on one of the protective metal covers.
